Linens from Mallorca

Mallorcan roba de llengües begins far from the island. The Asian art of ikat travelled west along the Silk Road and arrived in Mallorca in the 15th century, where local artisans embraced it and slowly made it Mediterranean, softer in spirit, unmistakably their own.

The process may look simple, but it is one of the most labour intensive crafts we work with. The yarn is dyed first and dried under the sun, then set thread by thread on the loom, still woven on original English looms brought over during the Industrial Revolution and kept running to this day.

Reimagined for Today

We reworked Mallorca’s traditional woven language by adjusting the scale of the motifs, refining the colour palette and adapting the compositions to a more contemporary table.

Woven in a 50% cotton, 50% linen blend, these linens preserve the structure and durability of the original craft while becoming softer and more beautiful with every wash, standing against the mass-produced printed textiles that are slowly displacing the island’s iconic textile tradition.
